Privacy Policy
SpamBuster Android application · Last updated: 22 June 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the SpamBuster Android application handles your information. In short: SpamBuster does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything the app does happens entirely on your device.
1. No Data Collection
SpamBuster does not collect, store off-device, or share any personal or sensitive user data. The app has no internet permission — it is technically incapable of sending any information off your phone. There are:
- No accounts and no sign-up.
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs inside the app.
- No third parties with whom data could be shared.
- No servers operated by the developer that the app communicates with.
2. Information the App Uses (On-Device Only)
To screen calls, SpamBuster processes the following information locally on your device. None of it is ever uploaded or transmitted:
- Incoming call information — the phone number of an incoming call is checked against the rules you have enabled so the app can allow, flag, or block it. This evaluation happens in real time, on the device.
- Contacts (optional) — if you grant contacts access, SpamBuster reads your contacts solely to recognise people you know (so they are never blocked) and to power the "Not in Contacts" filter. Contacts are read on-device and are never copied off your phone. This permission is optional; if you decline it, the app simply skips the contacts-based filter.
- Your rules, blacklist, and call history — the filters you configure, the numbers you blacklist, and the log of screened calls are stored only in the app's private storage on your device.
3. Permissions and Why They Are Needed
- Phone / Call Screening (required) — lets SpamBuster inspect incoming calls so it can apply your filters. Without it, the app cannot function.
- Contacts (optional) — used only to identify known callers and to run the "Not in Contacts" filter. Read on-device; never transmitted.
- Notifications (optional) — used only to show the "Suspected spam" warning for soft-flagged calls.
4. Data Sharing
SpamBuster shares no data with anyone. Because the app has no network access, there is no mechanism by which your information could be sent to the developer, to advertisers, or to any other third party.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
All app data stays on your device. You remain in full control:
- Call history is kept for the retention period you choose in Settings (1 day, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, or forever). Older entries are removed automatically.
- You can clear your blacklist, history, and rules at any time within the app.
- Uninstalling SpamBuster permanently deletes all of its data from your device.
6. Children's Privacy
SpamBuster does not collect any data from anyone, including children. The app is suitable for general audiences and contains no data-collection features.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
